Wheat Technology at Monsanto

Monsanto invested in wheat in 2009 with the goal of improving wheat through the application of advanced technologies.  We have successfully deployed technologies to improve our other crops including corn, soy, cotton and vegetables.  We are currently accelerating our breeding efforts through the use of our state of the art wheat chipper and marker platforms.  In addition, we are collaborating with key industry and government partners to enhance our germplasm and traits.  We will use both breeding and biotechnology to develop higher yielding  wheat.  These technologies will also be utilized to develop wheat varieties resistant to key diseases.
