Re-sequencing efforts in sheep

The availability of a sheep genome (http://www.livestockgenomics.csiro.au/sheep/oar2.0.php) allowed us to start re-sequencing animals. Our aim is to find high-quality SNPs for custom assays or a high-density SNP chip. The new sequence data generated also allows us to highlight differences between our animals and the reference genome. We will present results for a first set of 8 animals, highlighting our methodology to detect and filter SNPs, and detect problematic areas in the reference assembly.
