In this talk I will be discussing mobile and other repetitive DNA elements and their diversity and distribution in Musa. Using DNA sequence analysis, fluorescent in situ hybridization to chromosomes and DNA methylation studies we have analysed the organization, amplification and movement as well as the control of repetitive DNA. We are particularly interested in the role mobile elements play in shaping the genomes and their evolution. For references see www.molcyt.com
