Use of Illumina HiSeq to identify  putative  Resistance gene to Fusarium wilt in Banana

A population of Musa acuminata subsp malaccensis  that segregates for resistance to F. oxysporum f.sp.  cubense  is being assessed using next generation sequencing. Libraries were prepared using bulk DNA from homozygous resistant plants and  from homozygous susceptible plants.  Sequencing was undertaken using the Illumina HiSeq with  10x coverage for each bulk. Comparisons between the bulks has been undertaken for  SNP analysis. Further analysis will be undertaken on individual DNA samples to target regions associated with the resistance.
